Our Goal
The aim of the GRAD is to increase the research and teaching capacities of foreign lawyers. To this end, they are offered a varied and comprehensive doctoral programme that goes beyond the existing doctoral regulations. In particular, an elective programme of special courses is offered to the doctoral candidates and intensive supervisory relationships are established between the doctoral candidates and their supervisors.Our priorities

Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg
The Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg is one of Germany's oldest universities, the result of a fusion between the University of Wittenberg (founded in 1502) and the Friedrichs University (founded in 1694). The MLU is famous for teaching outstanding historical figures such as Martin Luther, Giordano Bruno and Christian Thomasius.
The Faculty of Law and Economics
The University's Faculty of Law and Economics is located in the historic centre of the city and has modern facilities and free internet access. The Faculty's library contains over 260,000 writings and various legal information systems can be accessed almost 24/7 from the library. In 2018, the Faculty was voted to be one of the best three law faculties in Germany by the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE).
